Neel is a playwright and director based in New Delhi. He is a Founder and Artistic Director of The Tadpole Repertory. Neel studied history and film and spent a year working in Berlin before returning to India to work in the theatre. He was the Artistic Director of The First City Theatre Foundation from 2006 to 2009 where he wrote and directed his first five plays. In 2010, his play Taramandal won the MetroPlus Playwright Award and he also received a 50th Anniversary Grant from the Goethe Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan for the play, Ich bin Fassbinder. His play Still and Still Moving (2011) was developed in collaboration with the Royal Court Theatre in London. Neel is a member of the Lincoln Center Theater's Directors Lab and a recipient of the 2014 Vinod Doshi Fellowship from the Sahitya Rangabhoomi Pratishthan. He also curates and manages Downstairs, a small underground performance venue in South Delhi.
